Our program has diverse research interests building on a solid clinical and teaching base of eight consultants, an advanced trainee registrar, a clinical/research fellow, a research clinical trials nurse, and research fellows/students.

This research focuses on:

• Osteoarthritis including the association with obesity, inflammation/cytokines and pain pathways.
• Quantifying knee joint effusions use musculoskeletal ultrasound
• Large database of longitudinal cohort patients with hip and knee osteoarthritis
• Combined database of rheumatology patients at public and private clinics in the western suburbs of Melbourne which gives us a unique opportunity to perform population specific studies and comparisons between different sub groups
