Mahdi Imani is a Medical Imaging Technologist at Western Health and a PhD candidate at the University of Melbourne. He is part of the Geroscience & Osteosarcopenia research group at AIMSS.
Mahdi is an experienced Biomedical Engineer (Bioelectrics) focusing on creating and testing new imaging technologies and developing image processing techniques to study musculoskeletal organs and conditions (such as osteoporosis, sarcopenia and osteosarcopenia).
Moreover, he coordinates the Imaging and Image Analysis Unit at AIMSS and is an associate investigator on several national and international projects, including cross-sectional, longitudinal and randomised trials.
As part of his research, Mr Imani is developing a novel medical image analysis software (Tissue Compass™) by utilising different technologies, including Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Machine Learning, for the diagnosis and prognosis of musculoskeletal conditions and prediction of adverse outcomes (such as falls and fracture).
