General Membership

Benefits:
  • Opportunity to collaborate with other AIMSS members and affiliates and access the AIMSS research network
  • Access to office and laboratory space at CHRE and AIMSS facilities/equipment/instrumentation
  • Invitations to AIMSS seminars, meetings, workshops and to participate in working groups
  • Eligible for financial support for research activities through the AIMSS strategic fund
  • Eligible for AIMSS scholarships for RHD students
  • Eligible for financial support for travel and other activities that promote AIMSS
  • Access to AIMSS resources for promotional activities (website, promotional material, communal promotional activities, seminar series, conference planning etc.)
  • Access to AIMSS resources for student recruitment (as above)
  • Access to cross-discipline support and review
  • Support for career development
  • Limited access to facilities at each partner organisation (negotiated on case-by-case basis)
Requirements:
  • Research interests must be aligned with and support those of the institute
  • Members must be research active; able to contribute to the research profile of the Institute
  • Required to meet agreed quality and performance measures
  • Able to attract research funds, publish and present in key national and international forums
  • Able and willing to form partnerships with national and international academic, clinical and industrial partners
  • Must be employed by, or a student of the partner organisations forming AIMSS
  • Must be located at AIMSS for at least some time-fraction
Expected to:
  • Demonstrate commitment to the development of the institute
  • Contribute to achieving the research goals of the institute
  • Develop new funding opportunities through collaboration and expansion
  • Expected to contribute to an annual research report
  • Promote the Institute, attend official functions and meetings representing AIMSS
  • Potential to serve as a research leader tasked with leading, supporting and monitoring performance in a specific area of research
  • Acknowledge co-affiliation with AIMSS in all research publications, presentations, poster sessions etc.  This includes all research that is aligned with AIMSS or performed at AIMSS
  • Expected to participate in strategic planning initiatives

Membership – Project Directors

Benefits:
  • Opportunity to collaborate with other AIMSS  members and affiliates and access the AIMSS research network

  • Invitations to AIMSS seminars, meetings, workshops and to participate in working groups
  • Eligible for financial support for research activities through the AIMSS strategic fund
  • Eligible for AIMSS scholarships for Postgraduate students
  • Eligible for financial support for travel and other activities that promote AIMSS
  • Access to AIMSS resources for promotional activities (website, promotional material,  communal promotional activities, seminar series,  conference planning etc.)
  • Access to AIMSS resources for student recruitment (as above)
  • Access to cross-discipline support and review
  • Support for career development
  • Limited access to facilities at each partner  organisation (negotiated on case-by-case basis)
Requirements:

  • Must be located at AIMSS for at least some time-fraction (not less than 25%). (Note: This  condition could be exchanged by allocating one of his/her PhD or Master’s students to perform full time research activities at AIMSS)
  • Should be in regular communication with his/her Program Director
Expected to:

  • Contribute to achieving the research goals of the institute
  • Develop new funding opportunities through collaboration and expansion
  • Expected to contribute to an annual research report
  • Promote the Institute, attend official functions and meetings representing AIMSS
  • Potential to serve as a research leader tasked with leading, supporting and monitoring  performance in a specific area of research
  • Acknowledge co-affiliation with AIMSS in all research publications, presentations, poster  sessions etc (This includes all research that is aligned with AIMSS or performed at AIMSS)

Organisational Affiliate

Benefits:
  • Access to a unique environment for networking within the musculoskeletal health- and research-community
  • Invitations to AIMSS seminars, meetings, workshops and to participate in working groups
  • Eligible for financial support for travel and other activities that promote and strengthen the affiliation with AIMSS
  • Eligible for the Scientific Exchange Program
  • Opportunity to collaborate in research with AIMSS members and access the AIMSS research network
  • Limited access for researchers to AIMSS facilities/equipment/instrumentation
  • Potential to co-fund new collaborative research activities with AIMSS
  • Potential to co-fund and co-supervise RHD student scholarships for collaborative research between AIMSS and the affiliate organisation
Requirements:
  • Able to make a valuable contribution to AIMSS vision and strategic goals by supporting and participating in AIMSS activities
  • Have a profile that will enhance AIMSS reputation positively
  • Able and willing to form partnerships and extend the musculoskeletal network associated with AIMSS
  • Ability to contribute expertise to projects and campaigns aligned with AIMSS strategic goals
Expected to:
  • Demonstrate commitment to the development of the institute
  • Contribute to AIMSS through collaboration, expertise or financial assistance
  • Expected to be identified in the annual research report
  • Contribute to strategic planning initiatives where applicable
  • Acknowledge co-affiliation with AIMSS in all relevant endeavours including research and health campaigns

Individual Research Affiliate

Benefits:

  • Eligible for financial support for travel and other activities that promote and strengthen the affiliation with AIMSS
  • Eligible for the Scientific Exchange Program
  • Limited access to AIMSS facilities/equipment/instrumentation
Requirements:
  • Engaged in an active and ongoing collaboration with an AIMSS member
  • Ability to contribute research expertise to projects and campaigns aligned with AIMSS strategic goals
  • Required to meet quality and performance measures for affiliation to be granted
Expected to:
  • Demonstrate commitment to the development of the institute
  • Develop new funding opportunities through collaboration with AIMSS members
  • Be identified in, and contribute to the annual research report
  • Contribute to strategic planning initiatives where applicable
  • Acknowledge co-affiliation with AIMSS in all relevant research
  • Keep AIMSS informed of any progress in the joint endeavours
  • Participate periodically in AIMSS seminars
