Associate Professor Alan Hayes is a muscle and exercise physiologist with over 15 years of research experience. With a particular interest in skeletal muscle function, his current focus is on the maintenance of skeletal muscle mass and/or improved function in muscular dystrophy, recovery from muscle injury, and the debilitating effects of obesity and aging. His work on whey protein supplementation has been highlighted in New Scientist, as well as several magazines read by active communities, including Men’s Health and Muscle & Performance. Dr Hayes received the 2004 Sport and Recreation Industry award for Applied Research in Sport.
