The Australian Institute of Musculoskeletal Science aims to perform innovative research into muscle and bone interactions. Integrating bone and muscle science occurs at many levels ranging from basic science to translational research and clinical trials, and at a population level, improved health outcomes for the elderly. There is a focus on biomechanical approaches at cellular, organ and whole body levels using novel biomechanical modelling solutions. In addition, a wide variety of bone and muscle imaging modalities exist to measure changes in animal or human models. International and national collaborations have strengthened our research, which has attracted a large number of international PhD students from Italy, France and China. Our modern and architecturally iconic environment fosters collaborative learning and research.
